About Us
Momat4ty is a purpose-driven platform advocating for and supporting African women navigating motherhood at 35 and beyond. It was founded from lived experience; rooted in a critical gap in maternal health awareness, access to information, and culturally relevant support for older mothers.

The founder, Suziette Agazie, began this journey after becoming pregnant at the age of 39.
At seven months pregnant, she experienced severe swelling in her legs, something she had previously been told, like many women in her community, was simply a sign of carrying a male child. However, this symptom was in fact linked to a medical condition that can be mild or life-threatening if not properly monitored. This revelation did not come from a healthcare professional, but from her sister. It was the first time she encountered any conversation around the realities of high-risk or later-life pregnancy
When she raised concerns with her doctor, she was met with a lack of clear information and guidance. This experience sparked a deeper curiosity and led her to conduct her own research. What she discovered was alarming: across Nigeria, many women over 35 were facing preventable complications during pregnancy and childbirth due to a lack of timely information, inadequate healthcare communication, and systemic gaps in maternal care. Cases such as excessive bleeding during childbirth, where prior preparation, such as ensuring blood availability, could save lives, were far too common.
This moment became the catalyst for Momat4ty.
Now in its sixth year, Momat4ty has grown into a social impact platform using storytelling, digital engagement, and community-led conversations to amplify the voices of African women whose motherhood journeys are often misunderstood, stigmatised, or overlooked.
A key part of Momat4ty’s advocacy is addressing the structural and socio-economic realities that shape later-life motherhood in Nigeria. Contrary to common assumptions, older motherhood is not driven by choice or elitism for many women. It is often a consequence of systemic challenges such as prolonged education due to academic strikes, financial instability, and delayed life milestones. These realities mean many women begin families later, yet without the necessary medical guidance or social support systems required for safer pregnancies.
Momat4ty also champions mental health and emotional wellbeing, recognising the psychological strain associated with fertility challenges, delayed motherhood, career pressures, and cultural expectations. By creating safe spaces for open dialogue, the platform works to break stigma and ensure women do not navigate these experiences in isolation.
Through initiatives such as Moms Round Table, Momat4ty facilitates honest, community-driven conversations around motherhood, identity, and societal expectations. These discussions are inclusive of women at all stages of life, while maintaining a core focus on those who choose, or are compelled, to have children after the age of 35.

At its heart, Momat4ty believes that motherhood has no expiry date.
Every African woman deserves access to accurate information, quality care, dignity, and support, regardless of when she chooses to begin her journey. Through advocacy, education, and culturally grounded storytelling, Momat4ty continues to challenge harmful narratives, close information gaps, and improve outcomes for women across Africa.
