Dear diary, it’s been months!
I couldn’t believe my luck when Oke and I got the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of work life for a much-needed getaway. After the emotional rollercoaster of our failed IVF attempt, we decided to take a break from having sex as a routine and embraced spontaneity in our lives. Last two weeks, we indulged ourselves with a second honeymoon at a luxurious 5-star hotel, revelling in the joy of just being together without discussing work or mundane chores.
As I reminisced about those carefree moments, little did I know that life had an unexpected twist waiting for me. Sandra, my colleague, disrupted my daydreams to inform me that our boss needed me in the meeting room. As I got up, an unsettling wave of faintness and nausea swept over me. I took a quick sip of water, composed myself, and headed to the meeting.
Later that evening, while preparing dinner in the kitchen, I noticed an unsettling fever creeping in. Alarmed, I called Oke, who rushed to pick me up and took me straight to the hospital. Little did I know that this would mark the beginning of an incredible journey.
The next morning, the doctor walked into my room with a smile that hinted at something extraordinary. To my surprise, she shared the unexpected news that I was three months pregnant! Oke and I were over the moon with joy, especially considering that I had experienced what seemed like regular periods in the preceding months. The doctor assured us that such occurrences were not uncommon.
Overwhelmed with emotions, we immediately contacted our fertility doctor, Dr. Peterson, who advised me to take it easy and visit the clinic at least twice a week for monitoring. We decided to keep our newfound joy a secret until I started showing a baby bump. The excitement and anticipation of our future as parents filled our hearts that night as we spent it in front of the TV, wrapped in each other’s arms, and praying for the well-being of our future baby.
The realisation that just when I stopped trying, the miracle happened is a testament to the greatness of God’s way of doing things. I was so happy at how we changed our sad state to a happy one now, the joy is complete.
The journey to this point hasn’t been easy, but this unexpected twist has proven that life has a way of surprising us most beautifully. Oke and I are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little miracle, cherishing every moment, and counting our blessings.
Till next time, Diary.
xoxo,
Dee
