Motherhood is a journey filled with challenges, sacrifices, and moments of pure joy. I’ve never been a conventional mom—I had my first child as a teenager and my second as an older mom. Two completely different experiences, yet both shaped me into the storyteller I am today.
This year, I’ve decided to write more from personal experience and the stories of other moms I’ve encountered. As African mothers, especially Nigerian moms, we go through so much—yet we don’t talk about it enough. So why not start the conversation and find ways to support each other?
The Moms Round Table – A Space for African Moms
Last month, we launched The Moms Round Table, a TikTok Live event where we openly discuss the real issues we face as African mothers. One of our recent topics was the stigma of becoming a mom after 35. Many of us delay motherhood due to financial pressures—we want to provide for our children and support our spouses. But this can lead to fertility struggles, and when we do face challenges conceiving, society often blames us rather than offering support.
We also talked about the stigma surrounding IVF, surrogacy, and adoption. Why is it that when a woman chooses an alternative path to motherhood, she faces judgment instead of encouragement? These are real conversations we need to have, and we’ll be diving deeper into this topic in February.

📅 Next Moms Round Table Live: Thursday, February 22nd (since the 3rd Saturday falls on Valentine’s weekend—because, well, we know some loving will be going on! 😉)
Motherhood Has No Manual—But You’re Not Alone
No matter how much advice you get from your mom, sister, or friends, your motherhood journey will always be unique. There’s no rulebook, no final exam, and no perfect way to do it. Raising another human is both overwhelming and rewarding, a blessing that we should embrace—challenges and all. So go at it with bold conviction.
Do you have a motherhood story to share? We’d love to hear it! Send us an email at momat4ty@gmail.com, and let’s bring your story to life on our platform.
For now, stay loving, stay strong—you are truly appreciated, Mom! ❤️
Love,
Sue
